Imagine Hide comes back in TG:re and Kaneki/Sasaki has his memories of him back and they’ve been together for a while. Hide would come up behind Sasaki and say “Hey” getting Kaneki/Sasaki’s attention or tapping him on the shoulder. Sasaki remembers that Hide use to run up and sneak up on him and hug him from behind and he eventually brings this up to Hide and Hide just tells him, “Sorry, buddy, but we’re a little old for that”. This stops Sasaki in his tracks but Hide keeps walking slowly, looking on the ground. Sasaki laughs awkwardly and tells Hide that they’re never too old or something to let Hide know that it’s still okay to do that and Hide just interrupts him.

Sasaki: “I doesn’t bother me you know. If you think it’s because I’m a first rank investigator now then don’t you worry, I dont mind at all. You can st-”

Hide: “Sasaki enough…please…just stop. I’m tired. I’m just so tired. I’m not the same person I was before. You’ll always be my best friend and I’ll always love you but things aren’t the same anymore.”

And just keeps walking slowly leaving Sasaki standing there.
